Lake Titicaca- Puno, Peru & Copacabana, Bolivia

PUNO, Peru

After a 7 hour overnight bus ride from Cusco, we landed in Puno. Puno...not much to say. About the only interesting thing to see in Puno is the floating islands off Lake Titicaca. The Uros people built islands out of reeds and escaped to the middle of the lake to avoid the Incas. We took a 2 hour tour to the islands and headed out to Bolivia the next morning.

COPACABANA, Bolivia

After a fairly easy border crossing but a steep visas charged for Americans ($135 pp), we made it to Bolivia. Copacabana is an enchanting town perched on the southern shore of Lake Titicaca. The first day we booked a hostel with magnificant lake views. We then rented a paddelboat and took it further into the lake then we were supposed to. Got yelled by the coast guard! The next day we visited Isla del Sol "Island of the Sun" and did a few hour hike to the Chincana ruins. The view of the lake was spectacular and looked as if we were staring out to the ocean. After two days we then headed to La Paz. More updates to come!
